Bunches of Punches
A good form will never be a great form unless the techniques are aimed at the proper target. Do you know where the punches and other hand techniques go in all the forms?
Ki-Bon: to the body or solar-plexus.
Dan-Gun: to the head or temple.
Do-San: to the body or solar-plexus.
Won-Hyo: to the body or solar-plexus.
Yul-Guk: to the body or solar-plexus.
Joong-Gun: to the head or temple.
Hwa-Rang: to the body or solar-plexus.
Choong-Moo: to the head or temple.
Just like punches, kicks have correct target areas too, so make sure you get to class so the instructors can make sure you’ve got a gold medal form!
Hwa-Rang
The second form for all black belts this testing cycle is Hwa-Rang. Practicing on your own is great, but no substitute for coming to class. Make sure you’re here at least twice a week so the instructors can check your technique.
Hwa-Rang
Named after the Hwa-Rang youth group which originated in the Silla Dynasty about 1,350 years ago. This group eventually became the actual driving force for the unification of the kingdoms of Korea.

Joong-Gun
The second form this testing cycle for all black belts is Joong-Gun. The key to execution this form properly is having well-formed stances and really focusing on the stance changes. Since we have testing going on tomorrow and won’t be open for regular classes, practice Joong-Gun on your own. Ask a parent or sibling if they can tell when you’re changing stances. Keep practicing until they can name every stance!
JOONG-GUN
32 MOVEMENTS
Joong-gun is named after the patriot An Joong-Gun, who assassinated Hiro-Bumi Ito, the first Japanese governor-general of Korea, known as the man who played the leading part in the Korea-Japan merger. There are 32 movements in this pattern to represent Mr. An’s age when he was executed at Lui-Shin prison (1910).
